Hey guys I’m looking to build a 7016 or marine nationale Tudor sub, plenty of dials, hand sets etc out there. I want to do this one on a budget so not looking to get a Vietnam case etc - what case/watch would you recommend to start with, and will it need any reworking?
It is recommended to use a Gen as reference and avoid calipers, you should really eyeball it until you feel it is right as these are old watches and each case is different. Here you can see the difference (left CG vs right CG).
I purchased a case kit and got an ETA 2824 at a decent price from a company near me and had my watch guy drop it in there and give it a shakedown. It came out really nice, good weight, good steel, nice bracelet.
